HOMER, Taverna
We finally got a chance to make it down to the South Side in Cronulla. Well I should say, transported to Athens for a night and we’re not mad about it.

I know I’m late to the party, and the team behind Homer have already set up their second establishment (a wine bar, to be precise - Volta) which just gives us another excuse to go again.
This isn’t the place you take your friends with predictable palates. I truly believe not everyone out there is designed to appreciate the flavours and intensity of the Greek cuisine. The guys at Homer seem to really draw into the feeling of a neighbourhood Taverna in Athens, I mean that is their concept right.. a ‘rogue’ Taverna. Quality olive oil, flavoursome dishes and just the right amount of spice.
Start with the Cigars Stifado, then, obviously, order the Manouri Cheese - baked with hot honey and kataifi, followed by the Grilled Souvlaki Octopus. Pick your protein of choice (chicken or pork souvla, or the lamb ribs) and then devour all the sides. So yeah, I guess it really is that simple.

To finish, order the Greek cinnamon doughnut with Homer’s honey walnut ice-cream. Did I stutter?

You know a meal is clean when you don’t get that uncomfortable, heavy feeling after overeating. Instead, you’re content enough to go for a walk along the coastline or drive home for a nap with no remorse.
I don’t know about you but I could happily live off oregano, olive-oil, lemon, and anything else unapologetically Greek. Just don’t tell the Greeks I said that.
Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
