A Simple Life..
When I think of simplicity my mind casts to a European summer - sounds cliché, but it’s true.
Europeans don’t overthink anything, they’re constantly surrounded by the beauty of the sea, occasional swearing, the sun and the backdrop of historical buildings. (I’m talking about the summer season, don’t interrupt me with your negativity.)
We overthink everything here. We’re personalising the plates we eat on, lining up for hours for the newest restaurant openings, proving that we went to pilates via an Instagram story and paying $15 for a matcha.
Side Note:
How cute are these plates by In The Roundhouse, did you know they do custom plates for events?
If you were in Europe, you did pilates? Cool - nobody cares.
You drank a coffee? Groundbreaking, so did everybody else.
Europeans pride themselves on things that truly matter - genuine connections, quality over abundance, local lifestyles, food as culture and not content. A life that doesn’t require an explanation, and there are limited Instagram captions.
A simple pleasure? Espresso at the bar. Standing. €1.
Here’s another one for you.. walking everywhere with no sense of urgency.
My favourite one of all time - fewer items. One good coat, one good coffee table, one good pan.
Leisure takes precedence, lunch lasts two long hours and shops close without apology.
Europeans don’t even romanticise simplicity, they just live it.
Have I tempted you with a plane ticket yet?
I’m hoping if you haven’t booked anything as of late, you can find comfort in these articles (‘thoughts’).
I want them to feel like what a European summer feels like to me.
Just like a good quality Evoo.
