Why Beautiful things happen before 7am
There’s a version of life that exists well before 7am. No noise, no urgency, no expectations, no pressure to perform. The world is fast asleep and you’re all alone.
There is something so romantic about day break (or just before it). Nothing is ever rushed, unless of course you have a flight to catch, but if you adopt this habit of early rising as part of your routine you’re already winning.
If you haven’t read The 5am Club by Robin Sharma, don’t fret. I’ll summarise some of the key concepts here.
The 20/20/20 Formula = Victory Hour:
Splitting your Victory Hour (5am to 6am) into three twenty minute time slots that accommodates to your four interior success drivers or as Sharma refers to them as.. The Four Interior Empires. Nurturing your mind (psychology), heart (emotion), health (physicality) and soul (spirituality).
There are some important notes to consider here.
This formula is not a one size fits all philosophy, it’s a process. So find the approach that works best for you, it doesn’t necessarily need to be in 20 minute increments.
Don’t cheat sleep either, you will still need to have quality sleep so your evening routine is just as important as your morning one. Disconnect from the world earlier, turn your phone on airplane mode and start your journey to doze off.
What Sharma doesn’t talk much about is romanticising the early mornings. Of course there’s a justice to routine and habit building but why do beautiful things happen before 7am? The light creeps in gently, coffee somehow tastes better and stress doesn’t seem to exist yet.
It doesn’t need to feel like a heavy task or a mental strain, I have faith that you will use this time wisely and take it for yourself.
Do what makes you feel good.
Enjoy your quiet espresso before the world begins asking anything of you.
